Let’s Free Fall Together!
Let’s free fall together. Yes, you’ve already told me I’m crazy, but I think a little bit of insanity might be the dose the doctor recommended for us. Plus, if we do it together, I think it might be a little less scary. And it will feel really good. Really really good. Plus, there are no rules in this game! You can fall up or down or through the weightlessness of the space-time continuum, as long as you do so freely. So get ready, because I’m bringing you with me!
Let’s jump from one of those aluminum alloy homages to modern industrialism. Airplanes, right? Those things that lots of businesses use. Those things that cost lots of money to use for pleasure. You know who we can leave up there? The debt collectors, the bosses, the homework projects on your laptop, all of it…your BAGGAGE. Let’s just leave it and jump.
Let’s cut the cord. The one that keeps you sunken to the bottom of the ocean? Let’s cut it. In place you can leave all of your insecurities, your doubts, your concerns, and maybe a couple of your nemeses if you promise not to tell anyone. Cut that cord, and you’ll see that without any of these things your body is designed to bring you nowhere but up.
Let’s free fall in space. Let’s rediscover what it feels like to experience a new world with zero expectations. Wow, look how tiny the earth is from here! You must be a microscopic speck. Your problems? Tinier than an atom. Your problems can’t touch you from here! So just enjoy this moment. Enjoy the sensation of weightlessness and realize that you created this moment. You did it by putting distance between yourself and your problems. I think we’re getting the hang of this!
Let’s jump out of a box and smash the mold. Let’s become adults together and learn what it means to be one; let’s realize our limitless potential. I know it will be frightening to leave the confines of your cubicle, the safety net of your parents, or the connectedness of your CrackBerry, but it’s time, time to feel less confined and see that you can go anywhere from your current vantage point.
Let’s let go of our deleterious innards. Feel what it’s like to not be weighed down by them! Let those memories of failures drop to the ground and be rid of them. If you shatter a broken heart, it will be irreparable. And in 2011 that means time for a new heart! Oh gosh, I was tired of the one I had, weren’t you? A new one will beat fresh and hard with the intensity of accomplishing anything you try because it doesn’t yet know it can work that hard and possibly fail. It will be so shiny and new you’ll want to take it around and show everyone you meet, and that luminous heart will be so pretty that someone will want to steal it. Remember what it feels like to have a heart worth stealing?!
So I dare you. When’s the last time you backed down from a dare? Show a modicum of bravery and let’s free fall! It might hurt when you hit the bottom but you’ve got nowhere to go but up. I’ll even go first so I can catch you! You’ll land in a new place with nothing but yourself. Everything you left behind will be unreachable specs in the sky, and I promise that they can’t hurt you from so far away. So come on! 1…2….3!
